West Midlands Model Flying Club is situated on farm land near to the village of Wheaton Aston in South Staffordshire and only 5 minutes from Weston Park, click here for directions. We are very much in the country side and the track leading to the site is over half a mile from the nearest road. The track services farm fields and Lucknow Farm (now renamed Brockhurst Grange) which is near by. Follow the signs for Brockhurst Grange to find us.

The club has been active for over 20 years and maintains a membership of around 40 members. New members are always welcome. Current membership fees are £80 for the year for Seniors and £30 for Juniors. There are no joining fees at present. There is usually a reduction in fees for new members who join the club late in the year. All club members must have insurance to use the site. It is recommended that members join the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) for insurance purposes. Anyone wishing to join should contact Tim Wall by Email at

We welcome visitors to the site who are allowed 3 free full day visits before we ask that they join the club. Anyone on holiday in the area who has insurance is welcome to use the site but are asked to contact the club prior to using the site. All visitors must be accompanied by a member whilst flying for safety and security of the site.

We cater for all aspects of model radio controlled aircraft including fixed wing, helicopters and drones. We allow glow engines, petrol engines and electric powered aircraft though we do adhere to the BMFA guidelines over noise. Jet powered aircraft also can be flown at the site but this is subject to specific permission from the management committee for that type of aircraft. A test flight for evaluation may be required before permission is given to fly a specific jet powered aircraft.

Flying is permitted at the following times:-

Monday - Saturday   09.00 to 20.00 - All Models

Sunday -                     09.00 to 16.00 - All Models

Sunday -                     16.00 to 20.00 - Electric silent flight only

We are a BMFA affiliated club and operate under BMFA guidelines. We have a number of BMFA instructors and examiners and welcome anyone new to the hobby who either wish to learn to fly or wish be examined to BMFA proficiency standards.

The site is fenced off from a very large field which occasionally contains cows or sheep. There are styles at several points to enter the large field to retrieve models should they land there. It has two large runways which cross each other to cater for wind directions. One long and one a little shorter. The grassed runways are regularly mowed and maintained to a very high standard. The position of the pilots box ensures that the sun is always behind the pilots as they fly.

The site also has a cabin with cooking facilities for tea, coffee and food preparation. There is also a porta-loo toilet on site.

There is a lean-to building for spectators and shelter in inclement weather with tables for model preparation. Also present are storage containers for site equipment.

There is ample parking and cars can be bought closer to the pits area to unload if necessary.

Below are some pictures to show aspects of the site.
